as much as I was expecting it to happen eventually there’s something really upsetting and kind of surprising about the fact that she actually died. part of me hoped she’d eventually get it together and go on. i don’t know. it’s sad.
I think the people making careless jokes about this have either never been close with someone who struggles with addiction or are just total dicks, because while part of this whole thing is sad because she was a great talent, the other part is the reality of ultimately losing someone to their vices. when someone as immortal-seeming as a celebrity actually dies from drug addiction it makes the possibility of losing a friend or family member to it that much more real
and just as a huge fan of music in general it fucking sucks to lose someone who was as great as Amy Winehouse
